The "Ghost Town" of Parramore, Florida
Central School
Although the school was
destroyed by fire decades ago,
the ruins of Parramore's Central
School are today marked by a
monument listing the names of
teachers and students.
Oak Grove Road, Parramore
Once one of the "main streets" of
the village, Oak Grove Road now
leads past oak trees dating from
a time when Parramore was
much more than a "ghost town."

Oak Grove Church
Parramore, Florida
Once a thriving trading and industrial
village near the Chattahoochee River,
the Jackson County community of
Parramore is now a fading reminder
of the days when riverboat traffic was
the lifeblood of Florida.

Between 1890 and 1920, Parramore
was home to a post office, cotton gin,
saw mill, blacksmith shop, stores,
churches and several large turpentine
operations. Today, little remains other
than ruins, a monument, two
churches and the graves of the
residents who once lived here.
