Russell Cave National Monument near Bridgeport, Alabama, is one of the nation's premier Native American archaeological sites. The cave shelter at Russell Cave
reveals that the site was occupied by early Native American hunters for thousands of years before Christ. Visitors can explore exhibits at the museum and then visit
the cave itself, which was occupied by various groups over a period of thousands of years. The park is also a stop on the North Alabama Birding Trail. The paved trail
leading from the museum to the cave is only 300 yards long and is wheelchair accessible.
