Although the battle was fought in a Southern downtown, much remains to be seen...
Key sites of the battle of Marianna can still be visited. The Ely house, on West Lafayette, marks the starting
point of the battle. Although still a private residence, it can be viewed from the sidewalk. From there, a
short walk takes you to St. Luke's Churchyard, the downtown battle monument and Courthouse Square.
