Sequoyah
Remembered as the developer
of the Cherokee alphabet,
Sequoyah fought in the Battle of
Horseshoe Bend. One of the
U.S.-allied Cherokees who
fought on the side of the whites,
Sequoyah later accepted the
inevitable and moved west to
Arkansas and finally Oklahoma
well before the Trail of Tears.
