ExploreSouthernHistory.com was the creation of Southern writer and historian
Dale Cox. Noted for his books, writings and photographs of the American
South, he created www.exploresouthernhistory.com to serve as a location for
free information and historical detail about places of interest across the South.
Since its inception, ExploreSouthernHistory.com has grown to cover hundreds
of historic sites and heritage tourism destinations across the South, with new
ones being added each week. Efforts are also underway to update and
improve the original areas of the site.
Other photographers and historians now contribute to the site, which is now
maintained as one of several community service sites by Mr. Cox's son, Will, a
publisher and web designer.
Although the founder still contributes to the site, his involvement has been
dramatically reduced over the course of 2007 due to unexpected health
complications. The original dream that led to the creation of a site focused
exclusively on Southern history and heritage tourism goes on, however, and
with each passing month, ExploreSouthernHistory.com adds new pages and
data and is well on its way to becoming the premier online location for
information about any region of the American South.
